Abstract
Backgrounds: Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) are multi?resistant micro?organisms that have emerged as important nosocomial pathogens during current decade. VRE are highly isolated on multiple site of burn patient that treated multiple antibiotics. We report on clinically characteristics among burn patients isolated during recent 2 years.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed VRE isolation in tertiary hospital burn center from January 2005 to December 2006. We analyzed the clinical manifestation, site of isolation, divided subtype of VRE, sensitivity Linezolid & Quinupristin/ dalfopristin, use of Vancomycin/teicoplanin and Co infection of methcillin?resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA).

Results: Total 219 strains of VRE were isolated from 146 patients. Mean percent of total body surface area of 146 patients 41.32% (3£¼SD£¼100). The most common isolated site of VRE & strain is rectum (58.9%) and Enterococcus faecium (85.3%). VanA is most common subtype of VRE (68.0%). Linezolid and Quinupristin/Dafopristin(Sinersid) are nearly almost have sensitivity against VRE (92.2%). Rate of Co?infected MRSA is 69.8%. Vancomycin and/or Teicoplanin was used to half patients (50.6%). The mortality rate is 20.5%.

Conclusions: Despite various strategies?isolation, hand?wash and adequately antibacterial agent etc, VRE is going to native pathogen on hospital. Because Burn injured Patients isolated multiple and severe pathogen, Still only VRE have no evidence of roll to pathogen. Further more research is needed to use strictly indication of new?antibacterial agent (Linezolid & Quinupristin/Dafopristin) and more than ever effortto health?care workers.
